Submitted by: Jan Donovan (N. Carolina)

Materials needed:

3/4 cup rice flour
2 TBS. sugar
3/4 cup cold water
2-1/2 cups boiling water
1/2 tsp. oil of cinnamon

Instructions:

1) Mix rice flour, sugar and cold water in a medium-size pan. Stir until the mixture is smooth.

2) Add the boiling water and stir.

3) Bring to boil over low heat while stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened.

4) Remove from heat and add oil of cinnamon while stirring.

Makes 1-1/2 pints. This paste is excellent for mending torn pages of books or cards. Cut tissue paper the size and shape of the tear. Spread paste over the tissue and lay the tissue over the tear. The paste will be transparent when it is dried. It may be spread using a brush or craft stick. When stored in a tightly sealed jar, the paste will keep for several months without any refrigeration.
